Simple Directions:

Kona Ohana is located about 20 miles south of Kona International Airport in upper Keauhou. Take the only highway that circles the island south from the airport. Go past Kailua-Kona town until you get to mile marker 117 and look for Kona Baptist Church on your right. Go a few hundred yards past the church to the first possible place to turn left on Kalelei street. Take it right up to the upper highway, Mamalahoa Highway (no sign) just a hundred yards up and turn right. Go 500 yards or more, looking for a sign on the right for Kona Ohana. Turn right down the driveway and you will arrive in paradise.

Note: You'll most likely need a rental car to get around, and it's a good idea to reserve a rental car prior to arriving at the airport, since their stock is sometimes limited.

More Detailed Directions:

There is only one road leading out of Kona International Airport. Take it up to the stoplight, which is the main highway, #19. Turn right and go south. At Kailua-Kona, about 15 minutes up the road, the highway turns into #11. Just keep going straight thru the town. Eventually you will start heading uphill. Notice there are small green mile markers on the left hand side of the road. Keep going until you get to mile marker 116 and then start paying careful attention. You will pass a "scenic point," a place to pull over on your right. Keep going. A few hundred yards up you will pass Kona Baptist Church on your right. You are getting close.

The next time you can turn left, which is now just a hundred yards up ahead is where you need to turn. There is a Verizon Hawaii building with a blue roof on the corner but it is hard to see as you come up the hill. The street is Kalelei street. Turn left and go right up to the upper highway, just a quick two turns, maybe 50 yards.

There is no sign but the upper highway is #180, Mamalahoa Highway. The junction is a T and you must turn right! Go just about 800 yards until you see a sign on the right for Kona Ohana. The road to the left, going uphill is called Old Poi Factory Road and it has a sign. There is a bright blue house on the corner, as well as a brown house and another older blue house.

Turn right down the driveway and go straight into Kona Ohana driveway. There will be another sign to reassure you. Welcome to paradise.
